BLUE HERON HEALTH UPDATE
Global disease burden and safer Eastern supportive care
What global estimates can—and cannot—tell us, with an evidence-aware framework for tai chi, yoga, breathing, acupuncture and herbs.
01
The library now adds a global-burden panel to every one of its 29 condition guides. Each panel states the year, the estimating organization and the limits of comparison. These are not live patient registers.
02
Country totals cannot always be compared directly. Definitions, age structure, access to diagnosis and survey methods differ. Where a reliable worldwide patient count is unavailable, the guide says so instead of manufacturing a number.
03
Eastern supportive care is presented as an adjunct, not a substitute for diagnosis or established treatment. Gentle movement, regular routines and selected mind–body practices may support function or symptoms. Acupuncture and manual therapies need condition-specific goals and qualified practitioners.
04
Herbs can interact with prescriptions and can harm the liver or kidneys. Pregnancy, surgery, bleeding risk and cancer treatment require clinical review. Urgent warning signs always take priority over self-care.
Educational information—not diagnosis, treatment or emergency care. Sources and estimates are reviewed when the linked condition guides are updated.
